Working with several shades of red and pops of contrasting colors paint was applied in layers. Then came a deep burgundy wash which was sanded to reveal these intriguing faces.

Just saying :)
Art First Members Gloria Affenit, Barbara Taylor Hall and Tarver Harris had work juried into “The Human Factor,” the September National Exhibit at the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts. The juror, Washington DC-based artist Joey P. Manlapaz, chose 38 works that she felt successfully explored the exhibit theme of what it is to be human. She brings a wealth of experience as a juror ranging from her own highly successful career in art, to serving as an associate faculty member at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.
The show will run from August 30 – September 26, 2014, with an opening reception on First Friday, September 5, from 6—8:30 p.m. The juror will speak and present awards at 6:00 p.m.
